Schlumberger ‘Les Princes Abbes’ Alsace Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from France - Alsace
Review Date : 11-Nov-2012
Light golden yellow colour with pale straw hues on rim. The bouquet is very full, broad and voluminous with ripe yellow stonefruit aromas leading to tropical fruits, with honey and marmalade notes, alongside a minerally depth. Off-dry to taste, this is full-bodied with noticeable alcohol drive and generosity, some heat apparent. Ripe tropical fruit flavours with a dense core of stonefruit kernels feature with depth and power. The acidity is a little low, adding to the breadth. The finish has nuances of savoury stonefuits and nuts. A very driven and weighty, traditional wine that will develop over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Schimberg' district, hand-picked and fermented to 13.1% alc. and 16 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees 6-8 months. 17.5+/20 Nov 2012 RRP $29.50
