Schlumberger Alsace Grand Cru Riesling ‘Kitterelé’ 2005

Riesling from France - Alsace
Review Date : 11-Nov-2012
Bright, light golden yellow colour. The bouquet is fulsome with complex layers of toast and honey, unfolding in waves revealing interwoven secondary hints of petrol and nuts with savoury citrus elements. Dryish to taste, mature flavours of toast, nuts and kero, with caramel and custard decadence form an unctuous and weighty palate, the mouthfeel very creamy and rich. Some oxidative elements are also present and there is a little drying texture leading to a firm finish. This has excellent power and drive. Now on its plateau, this is now showing tertiary flavours indicating it should be drunk soon. Hand-picked fruit from ‘Kitterlé', WBP and fermented to 12.16% alc. and 6.6 g/L rs. 18.0-/20 Nov 2012 RRP $58.99
