Schlumberger Alsace Grand Cru Gewurztraminer ‘Kitterlé’ 2005

Gewurztraminer from France - Alsace
Review Date : 11-Nov-2012
Bright, deep, golden yellow colour. This has a soft, full and voluminous and weighty presence on bouquet, with waves of ripe tropical fruits, spices and honey. Caramel and toffee with ginger all show, gently building but not excessive or overly broad. Medium in sweetness, the palate combines fatness and lusciousness with crispness from firm underlying acidity, resulting in a soft finesse of flavour flow. Savoury tropical fruits, spices and nuts are complexed by caramel, honey and resinous elements, along with secondary hair-oil notes that linger on the finish. This is very well integrated and has a sense of lightness and style to balance the decadence. Drink over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the ‘Kitterlé' grand cru, hand-picked and WBP, fermented to 13.41% alc. and 31.7 g/L rs, the wine spending 8 months on lees. 18.5+/20 Nov 2012 RRP $77.99
