Satellite Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2010

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Aug-2012
Brilliant, light, golden-yellow colour, pale on rim. This has a very full, openly accessible bouquet of exotic florals and lifted sherbetty confectionary with nuances of tea, herbs and flinty lees work. Medium to taste, this is softly rich and mouthfilling with effusive Turkish Delight fruit flavours intermixed with rose-petals and creaming soda. The acidity is fresh, enhancing the brightness of the fruit flavours which build to provide a degree of unctuousness and rounded mouthfeel. The sweetness adds to the luscious nature of the wine and the flavours blossom on the finish, showing florals and confectionary elements. This slightly sweet Gewurztraminer is gently rich and luscious with attractive exotic confectionary flavours. Serve with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from Taylors Pass and the ‘Johnson' vineyard in the Waihopi, partially indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc. and 19 g/L rs, a portion in old oak, and most of the wine aged on lees for 10 months. 17.5+/20 Aug 2012 RRP $19.95
