Santa Rita ‘120’ Valle Central Merlot 2015

Merlot from Chile
Review Date : 14-Apr-2016
Moderately dark ruby-red colour, lighter on the edge. This has a light nose with fragrant red plum fruit with a fine core of redcurrants along with nuances of blackcurrants, herbs and suggestions of stalk. Nuances of camphor and resinous oak emerge in the glass. Medium-bodied and elegant in proportion, the palate possesses a good core of redcurrant and blackcurrant fruit with subtle layers of herbs and stalks, along with nuances of mint, camphor and oak. The wine follows a firm line with fine, grainy tannins and integrated acidity leading to a dry finish. This is an elegant and firm Merlot with redcurrant and herb flavours and grainy textures. Match with slow-cooked red meat dishes over the next 3 years. 100% Merlot from the Central Valley fermented to 13.5% alc., with 20%of the on aged 6-8 months in French oak. 16.0+/20 Apr 2016 RRP $14.99
