Santa Rita ‘120’ Valle Central Carmenere 2015

Other Red from Chile
Review Date : 14-Apr-2016
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red, youthful in appearance. The nose is firm and punchy with up-front and intense aromas of savoury blackcurrant fruit along with dark herbs and classical stalk-like elements. The aromatics build in depth with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate features sweet flavours of dark redcurrant and blackcurrant fruit entwined with a harmonious amalgam of herbs and stalks. This has good body and mouthfeel with supple, fine-grained tannins supporting the sweet fruit and bright, crisp acidity lending linearity. The wine carries to a lingering finish of sweet blackcurrant fruit. This is a full, sweet-fruited Carmenere with blackcurrant flavours entwined with herb and stalk notes, on a supple palate. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 3+ years. 100% Carmenere from the Central Valley, fermented to 13.5% alc. 17.0/20 Apr 2016 RRP $14.99
