Sama Rosé 2021, Wairarapa

Rosé from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 11-Feb-2022
Slightly hazy, medium blush pink with a salmon hue, slightly lighter edged. The nose is gently full, savoury on the entrance, aromas of stonefruit, strawberries melded with rose petals and cream. Medium-bodied, ripe nectarine, strawberries interweave black pepper, rose petals and a hint of creaminess. A juicy acid line carries a soft grip of tannin extraction, adding texture and depth growing on the palate, lingering to a savoury and fragrant finish. This is a thoughtful Rosé with bright fruit, creaminess and texture. Match with cured salmon and tomato base beef dish over the next 2 years. Fruit from a single vineyard in Masterton, whole bunch pressed in a basket press, fermented in old French barrels to 13.5%. Initially, weekly battonage then left on lees for 5-6 months. Unfined, unfiltered. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Feb 2022 RRP $28
