Sama Rosé 2020, Wairarapa

Rosé from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 05-Feb-2021
Brilliant, even, bright jewel pink with some depth. The nose is soft with good intensity of rose petals, orange blossoms entwined with raspberries, cherries, citrus and a little pepper dust. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, aromas of raspberries, cherries and tangerine have an elegant core, adorn by orange blossoms and rose petals, linger to a refreshing, lifted white pepper finish. Taut acidity shows vitality, persist on the palate along a fine phenolic line. The wine has a poised structure and excellent flavour intensity. Match with Wagyu bresaola and Spanish octopus & chorizo over the next 3 years. 100% dry grown Pinot Noir from Maggie's Vineyard in Masterton, whole bunch pressed with a short skin contact, fermented to 12.5% alc and aged on light lees for 3 months, unfined, coarsely filtered. Only 350 bottles produced. 18.5/20 pts (93pts) Feb 2021 RRP $27
