Sama Pinot Rosé 2022, Wairarapa

Rosé from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 22-Jan-2024
Bright, even, medium-coral. This has a perfumed bouquet with aromas of berry compote, marinated cherry, and a floral and herb mix. Medium-bodied aromas of berries and marinated cherry intermixed with rose petals, rosehip, cinnamon and liquorice root. The fruit is integrated, supported by lacy acidity flowing on silky phenolics. This Rosé has a serious vibe with integrated aromatics, fresh acidity and a textural palate. Match with sautéed mushrooms and pulled pork over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from Maggie's vineyard in Masterton, destemmed, macerated on skins for 4 hours, fermented in tanks, then aged in old French oak barrels on light lees, bottles unfined, unfiltered. 18/20 pts (90 pts) Jan 2024
