Sama Pinot Noir 2021, Wairarapa

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 22-Jan-2024
Moderately deep ruby-red, even colour throughout. The nose is lifted with raspberry, mulberry, red cherry, floral and spice aromas. Medium-light bodied, raspberry, mulberry and red cherry aromas interweaved with dried herbs, hibiscus and subtle spice. Supple tannins lightly veiled the mouthfeel, carried by engaging acidity. This Pinot Noir is delicate, framed by enlivening acidity and supple tannins, showcasing a red fruit core. Match with pork and duck over the next 3 years. Fruit from Maggie's vineyard in Masterton, 50% Abel and 50% clone 777, handpicked, 100% whole bunch, full-carbonic, naturally fermented and anded in old French oak for 30 months without sulphur dioxide. 11.5% alc, unfined, unfiltered. A small amount of SO2 at bottling. 17.5/20 pts (88 pts) Jan 2024
