Salvare Estate Hawke’s Bay Unoaked Chardonnay 2009

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 23-Apr-2011
Fruit from the ‘Home' block on Ngatarawa Road cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc., the wine given lees contact. Full, bright, straw-yellow in colour, this has a fresh and aromatic nose of white stonefruits and florals with nutty, mineral elements and flinty lees work. Dryish to taste, the palate shows stonefruit, mineral flavours and a touch of nutty-oxidative elements reminiscent of white burgundy. The wine has fresh acidity adding a raciness to the mouthfeel. The mid-palate has an attractive softness with melon-like fruit, and the wine finishes with a dry texture. This has Chablis-like style. Drink with antipasto and seafood dishes over the next 2-3 years. 15.5-/20 Mar 2011 RRP $20.00
