Salon Champagne Blanc de Blancs 1999

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 04-Dec-2012
100% Chardonnay from 19 vineyards in Le Mesnil, no MLF, 5 g/L dosage. Straw-yellow colour with some green hues, moderately persistent bead, with very fine bubbles. The bouquet is rich and voluminous with ethereal citrus fruit and white floral aromatics, interwoven with chalk, minearls, toast and yeast, revealing honied nuances. This is soft, open and very accessible. Dry to taste, this is beautifully delicate and softly textured with finesse of flow through the palate. Very accessible and soft in mouthfeel, deliciously subtle and inviting flavours of youthful white florals and honeysuckle are counterpoised by refreshing citrus fruits and lacy acidity. A refined autolytic yeasty thread underlines the flavours, and this is enveloped by subtle creaminess. This grows in openness and richness, and the dosage is perfectly balanced on a crisp, racy and lingering finish. This is a beautifully refined Blanc de Blancs Champagne that is remarkably accessible yet quite youthful in expression. It should develop well over the next 6-8+ years. 19.0/20 Nov 2012 RRP $676.00
