Salomon Undhof ‘Reserve’ ‘Von Stein’ Gruner Veltliner 2009

Gruner Veltliner from Austria
Review Date : 07-Feb-2013
Kremstal DAC, from vines over 50 y.o. from the ‘Hund' and ‘Danzer' sites, stainless-steel fermented to 14.0% alc. and 2.9 g/L rs, the wine aged on fine lees.Bright, pale straw-yellow, pale on rim. The bouquet has breadth and is full with volume, but restrained in expression initially, but building with waves of pepper and honeysuckle to show weight and density. Dry and full-bodied, rich and mouthfilling flavours of pepper and honey are the feature, the fruit and palate line driven by slippery, fresh acidity. The palate becomes drier on finish with a little grip showing. 18.5+/20 Feb 2013
