Salomon & Andrew Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 07-Jul-2014
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with purple hues, a little lighter on rim. The nose is fresh with firmly concentrated, bright dark cherry fruit aromas intermixed with thyme herb and black minerally notes, unfolding attractive violet floral fragrances. Medium-bodied, juicy, plush and lusciously sweet flavours of dark red berry fruits and cherries are enlivened by good underlying acidity. The mouthfeel is vibrant, with supple, soft tannins in the background supporting the fruit. The extraction is gentle and very harmonious. The flavours flow with good vitality to a long, lingering finish. This is a soft, juicy and supple-textured Pinot Noir with a smooth and lively palate. Match with poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked fruit from Bannockburn, given a cold soak, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in French oak. 17.5+/20 Jul 2014 RRP €25.00
