Saint Clair ‘Wairau Reserve’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Dec-2018
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with a little depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is tightly concentrated with finely bound aromas of pungent passionfruit with fresh blackcurrant notes and sweetly ripe tropical fruits, fresh herbs and subtle notes of mouthwatering minerals. The aromatics show elegance and detail. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a concentrated core of pungent passionfruit melded with ripe tropical fruits and blackcurrant leaf, along with sweetly fresh herb notes and some thist-quenching minerals. The fruit is rich and succulent, and balanced by very fine phenolic textures, and the palate enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The flavours carry to an elegant, long and sustained finish. This is an elegantly concentrated and taut Sauvignon Blanc with rich and intense flavours of passionfruit, tropical fruits, blackcurrants and herbs, with subtle mineral nuances on a vibrant, refined palate. Serve with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the lower Wairau, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 2.3 g/L RS. 19.0+/20 Dec 2018 RRP $33.90
