Saint Clair ‘Wairau Reserve’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Dec-2014
The ‘Wairau Reserve’ is the best parcel of Sauvignon Blanc of the vintage. Fruit from the lower Wairau Valley cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS. Bright, very pale straw-green, near colourless, very youthful in appearance. This has a very refined and tightly bound nose of pungent passionfruit infused with white florals, herbs and suggestions of blackcurrant leaf, the aromatics beautifully lifted and penetrating. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, tightly concentrated flavours of passionfruit, blackcurrants and florals show with purity and succulence. The mouthfeel is softly textured with a chalky, minerally core and gently piquant acidity lending excellent linearity. The palate is poised with tension and mouthwatering dryness that leads to a long, sustained finish with passionfruit and mineral notes. This is a refined and concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit flavours and chalky textures. Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables, and Pacific Rim cuisine over the next 2+ years. 19.0-/20 Dec 2014 RRP $33.90
