Saint Clair ‘Vicar’s Choice’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Apr-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The nose is fresh with bright citrus fruit aromas, lively and pure with a steeliness. Subtle notes of oak spice, flint and butter emerge. Medium-bodied, this is finely presented with lively citrus and white stonefruit flavours. Some buttery MLF notes and nutty oak notes support the fruit, and with lively acidity, the palate has real drive and line. This has harmonious and balance, with excellent freshness carrying through to a zest, but fine and subtly flavoured finish. This is a fresh, bright, balanced and up-front fruit-driven Chardonnay that has subtle interest built in. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3-4+ years. Marlborough fruit partially barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 3.0 g/L rs, with a portion of the wine undergoing MLF. 17.5+/20 Apr 2012 RRP $19.50
