Saint Clair ‘Vicar’s Choice’ ‘Bright Light’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Aug-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless. The nose is fresh, cutting and elegantly presented with mouthwatering aromas of gooseberries, grass, nettles and some passionfruit, along with confectionary-like fermentation esters. Dryish to taste and medium-light bodied, pure cut grass, gooseberry, nettle and passionfruit flavours form a slender palate. The fruit is lifted with esters, and enlivened by crisp, racy acidity providing a slippery mouthfeel and linear tension. Soft phenolic textures guide the zesty fruit to a zingy, mouthwatering, lingering finish. This is a slender and tight Sauvignon Blanc with mouthwatering grassy and gooseberry flavours. Serve as an aperitif, with salads and vegetables, or seafood over the next 2 years. Fruit from selected sites producing fruit of ‘optimum flavour’ at moderate sugar levels, machine-harvested and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 9.5% alc. and 8.1 g/L RS. 16.5+/20 Aug 2014 RRP $19.50
