Even ruby-red colour, lighter on rim. The nose is full with bright and fresh aromas of aromatic dark red cherry and berry fruit along with violet floral lift and a thread of fresh herbs. The aromas build in depth and unveil some whole berry fermentation jam and confectionary elements. Medium-bodied and elegant in proportion, plush, juicy and open fruit flavours of aromatic berry fruit are enlivened by fresh, racy acidity. The mouthfeel is zesty and accessible with light, supple tannins underlining the fruit. The rich and succulent fruit is carried by the acidity to a fine-textured, lingering finish. This is a bright, up-front, juicy fruited, approachable Pinot Noir with fresh acidity. Match with charcuterie, pasta and tapas over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the Southern Valleys, including the Omaka and mouth of the Waihopi, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged partly in new and seasoned French oak. 18.0-/20 Dec 2014 RRP $26.50
