Moderately deep, dark ruby-red colour with some purple hues on edge. This has a fresh, aromatic, fruit-driven bouquet showing raspberries, red liquorice and fresh herbs, along with notes of whole berry jam and confectionary elements. Medium-bodied, bright and juicy flavours of raspberries, jam and boiled sweets are enlivened by elevated acidity. The fruit is supported by fine, grainy tannins which form a good core and textured palate line. The sweet fruit and racy acidity is carried by the extract to a grainy, dry finish with lingering jam ad red floral notes. This is a bright and juicy, fruit-focussed Pinot Noir with grainy textures. Match with tapas, pasta, pizza and poultry dishes over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from sites in the southern valleys, including the Omaka and Waihopi, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc, with a portion aged in new and seasoned French oak barrels. 17.0+/20 May 2013 RRP $26.50
