Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. The nose is full, softly fresh and open with aromas of ripe citrus fruits along with nutty oak and creamy barrel-ferment and MLF elements. Dry and medium-bodied, the fruit expression is a little restrained, showing ripe citrus fruits infused with lifted, sweet, nutty oak. This has good depth and intensity, and the creamy mouthfeel is balanced by fresh acidity. The palate opens out to become very accessible, flowing along a fine line, leading to an easy mellow finish with tropical fruit and nutty notes. This is a medium-bodied, gentle and accessible Chardonnay with ripe citrus fruit. Match with seafood, poultry and pork dishes over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Wairau Valley, mostly barrel-fermented to 13.0% alc., and matured with MLF in French and American oak. 17.5-/20 Mar 2014 RRP $21.50
