Saint Clair ‘Premium’ Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec 2016

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Nov-2018
Full, dark, impenetrable black-red colour at the heart, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full and sweetly ripe with plush aromas of blackberry fruit with black plums and hints of boysenberries, along with a layer of sweet and spicy, cedary oak. This is up-front and bold in expression, and very plump. Medium-full bodied, the palate has sweetly ripe and luscious, opulent up-front flavours of blackberries and boysenberries and some jammy elements. The flavours are mouthfilling and form a gently harmonious core with supple tannin extraction lending accessibility. The fruit sweetness is the feature and the flavours carry with soft acidity to easy, rounded, flavoursome finish. This is a plush, up-front sweetly luscious, mouthfilling Cabernet Sauvignon- based red with ripe blackberry, plum and boysenberry flavours on a supple, accessible palate. Drink over the next 6 years. A blend of 66.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 13.3% Malbec, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 33% new French oak. 18.5+/20 Nov 2018 RRP $26.50
