Saint Clair ‘Pioneer Block 5 – Bull Block’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Jun-2011
Pale straw-yellow colour with a pale edge, this has a full, even bouquet with delicate stonefruit, mineral and honied aromas with some esters lift. Medium in sweetness, the flavours of minerals, stonefruits and poached pears are a little restrained. The palate is soft with some unctuous textures and richness well-balanced by good, clean acidity. Gentle honied characters flow onto a moderately sustained finish. Fruit from a southern Omaka Valley site where Jersey bulls once grazed, given long hang time with no botrytis influence. Cool stainless-steel fermented to 13.5% alc. and 19.2 g/L rs. Match with most Asian food over the next 2-3+ years. 17.5-/20 Jun 2011 RRP $23.50
