Saint Clair ‘Pioneer Block 5 – Bull Block’ Marlborough Gruner Veltliner 2012

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Jul-2013
Second crop fruit hand-picked, WBP and stainless-steel fermented to 13.0% alc. and 3.5 g/L rs, a press portion fermented in old oak, given lees contact and blended in. Pale straw-yellow, quite brilliant in appearance. The bouquet is fresh and up-front with a lifted array of aromatics, combining grass and herbs with florals, exotic spices and pepper. Dry to taste, this has a firm core that unfolds rich and lush fruit flavours of herbs, florals and pepper. The mouthfeel has a waxy, unctuous texture but has excellent linearity which carries to a ling, fine-featured and textured finish. An excellent varietal wine with Marlborough exuberance. Drink over the next 3-4+ years. 18.5/20 Jun 2013 RRP $24.95
