Saint Clair ‘Pioneer Block 24 – Arthur’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Mar-2014
Fruit from Ken and Gaynor Arthur’s vineyard in Woodbourne, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS. Bright pale straw-yellow colour with light green hues. This has an elegant and firmly concentrated bouquet of minerally gooseberry fruit entwined with passionfruit and nettles, the aromatics pristine and bright. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, tightly bound flavours of gooseberries, grass and nettles are enriched by subtle layers of sweet passionfruit. The mouthfeel is very refined with dry, chalky, minerally textures, and driven by fresh acidity. Some underlying alcohol power carries the flavours of gooseberries, herbs and passionfruit to a very long and detailed finish. This is an elegant, chalky-textured Sauvignon Blanc with herbaceous and pungent fruit flavours. Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables over the next 2 years. 18.0+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $26.90
