Saint Clair ‘Pioneer Block 18 – Snap Block’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Oct-2011
Very pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues and a very pale edge. This has a very tight and concentrated, penetrating nose of pungent ‘sweaty' passionfruit, gooseberry and fresh dark herbs and nuances of the seaside. Dry to taste, powerful and intense pungent flavours are interwoven with fresh herbs and tropical fruits, forming a core with great concentration. The palate has rounded textures and a smooth, fine flow, enlivened by good acid focus, leading to a very long, sustained finish with herb and seaside salty elements. Fruit from the ‘Snap Block' vineyard in the Lower Wairau, east of Blenheim, originally a Snap apple orchard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.9 g/L rs. Match with seafood, poultry, salads and vegetable dishes over the next 2-3 years. 18.5+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $25.50
