Saint Clair ‘Pioneer Block 13 – B&B Block’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2007

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-May-2017
Bright straw-yellow with lemon hues, pale on the rim. The bouquet is elegantly concentrated with very good depth and intensity of mineral and nutty infused yellow-stonefruit aromas with secondary and tertiary notes of toast, cream, earth and smoke. The aromatics grow in depth and volume with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate is crisp, taut and tightly concentrated with flavours of stonefruits with an overlay of toast, nuts and minerals. Complexing secondary and tertiary earth, creamy and smoky notes emerge from the core. The concentrated flavours flow along a fresh, crisp and racy line with brisk acidity leading to a long and sustained finish of toast, nuts and minerals. This is a complex, fully mature, unoaked Chardonnay with stonefruits melded with complex layers of nuts, minerals, toast and smoke on a brisk, linear palate. Serve with grilled and roasted seafood over the next 2+ years. Clone 95 fruit from the "B&B’ Block owned by Bruce and Bridget, situated at the eastern end of Rapaura Road, next to the Saint Clair cellar door, hand-picked, WBP, and indigenous yeast fermented in stainless-steel tank with high solids to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months on lees with batonnage and no MLF. 18.5+/20 May 2017 RRP $N/A
