Sacred Hill ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2014

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Apr-2015
Dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, lighter on rim, and very youthful in appearance. The nose is elegantly presented with a growing volume the blossoms to show ripe black berry fruit infused with black pepper, liquorice and spices, unfolding earth, camphor and musk notes in the glass. Medium-bodied, light and easy flavours of black berry fruit and black pepper are entwined with spice, musky florals and camphor elements. The palate has good vinosity and presence, showing a light, extracted line with lively underlying acidity. The wine flows with good vitality, leading to a peppery, firm finish carried by the acidity. This Syrah as a soft and voluminous nose and a light, black-fruited, fine-textured and brisk mouthfeel. Match with Middle-Eastern fare and roasted game meat dishes over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked Hawke’s Bay fruit, destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged in French oak. 16.5/20 Apr 2015 RRP $29.99
