Sacred Hill Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet 2015

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Apr-2016
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with slight purple on the rim. This has a well-packed and deep nose of uncomplicated aromas of ripe dark-red plum fruit intermixed with black and red currants and harmoniously melded herbal notes. Medium-full bodied, the fruit flavours of dark red plums and black and red currants are a little reserved in expression, but form a well-packed, soft core, providing good weight and presence. The sweet fruit is balanced by light, grainy tannins, and soft acidity adds to the rounded mouthfeel. The supple structure carries the wine easily to a soft-textured, moderately long finish of currants and herbs. This is a softly concentrated Merlot/Cabernet blend with plum and currant flavours and good mouthfeel and presence. Match with herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 3+ years. The ‘Orange Label’ wine’. A blend of Hawke’s Bay Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged with French oak. 16.5+/20 Apr 2016 RRP $19.99
