Sacred Hill Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet 2012

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Mar-2014
Dark, deep, vibrant cerise-hued purple red colour, lighter on rim. Bright dark plum and lively raspberry fruit aromas are lifted by whole berry-like fermentation confectionary elements, along with subtle herb notes. Medium-bodied, soft and plush, juicy flavours of bright red plum fruits intermingle with redcurrants and raspberries. The fruit is supported by supple, grainy tannins and piquant, lacy acidity, providing a lively and fresh mouthfeel. The palate is up-front and accessible, and carries through to a lifted, well-textured lingering finish. This is an up-front, bright and lifted Merlot-based wine with freshness and good structure. Match with barbecued and roasted beef and lamb dishes over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the Gimblett Gravels fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged in barrel and tank. 17.5-/20 Mar 2014 RRP $19.99
