Sacred Hill ‘HALO’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2013

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 28-Dec-2014
Hand-picked Syrah fruit from the Gimblett Gravels, fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in barrel. Very full, very dark, deep, purple-hued black-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has an elegant and finely concentrated nose of black berry fruits along with black pepper, enhanced by subtle iron-earth and mineral nuances, spices and black ink. Medium-bodied and slender in proportion, well-packed flavours of black berry fruits, black pepper, florals and spices feature on the palate. This has excellent intensity and depth, and the flavours are supported by a fine-grained tannin line with integrated acidity and drive. The extraction grows in presence and the wine is carried to a long, sustained finish with restrained black pepper notes. This is an elegant Syrah with intense black berry and peppery fruit flavours with a fine, tannin line. Serve with Asian duck and Middle Eastern lamb dishes over the next 4-5 years. 17.5/20 Dec 2014 RRP $29.99
