Sacred Hill ‘HALO’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2009

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Jun-2013
2009 will be regarded as an outstanding vintage in Hawke’s Bay. Made from Gimblett Gravels Syrah, this was fermented in small open vats with plunging for extraction to 13.5% alc., and aged in French oak barriques ‘sur lie’. Very youthful, dark purple-red in colour, this shows an intensely deep nose of black fruits, pepper, dark florals, Asian spices and distinctive liquorice elements and oak shine. A firm, fine-grained and well-concentrated wine, the tightly held flavours of black pepper, spices and oak are framed within a seriously built palate. This impresses with its depth and potential to live 5-7 years. Drink with game meat. 18.0+/20 Dec 2010 RRP $24.90
