Sacred Hill ‘HALO’ Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc 2012

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Dec-2013
Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-ruby colour. This has an elegantly proportioned bouquet with a concentrated amalgam of fragrant black berry and red plum aromas with spice notes and black minerally nuances. Medium-bodied, the palate has a stylish and elegant core with finely concentrated flavours of black berry fruits and sweet red plums. The fruit is supported by very fine-grained and supple tannins and bright, fresh background acidity, and the flavours flow smoothly and seamlessly. The mouthfeel is one of finesse and well-interwoven detail, which carries through to a supple, subtle, liquorice nuanced finish with good length. This is an elegant, supple and fine-grained Merlot-based wine with smooth mouthfeel. Serve with roasted lamb and beef, and semi-hard cheeses over the next 5-6 years. 70% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Cabernet Franc from the Gimblett Gravels, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged in oak barrels. 18.0/20 Dec 2013 RRP $27.99
