Sacred Hill ‘HALO’ Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 28-Dec-2014
Dark, deep, black-hued purple-ruby colour, a little lighter on rim. The nose is fresh and youthful with primary fruit-focussed aromas of dark red plum and berry fruits, entwined with red and blackcurrant notes and fresh herbs. Nuances of boysenberries and iron-earth add to the interest. This is elegantly proportioned and presented. Medium-full bodied, full, up-front, vibrant and juicy fruit flavours of black plums, dark red berry fruits, black and red currants are layered with herbs, earth and iron-like elements. The fruit succulence is framed within a grainy, tannic structure lending plenty of texture and fine grip. The extract carries the wine to a long, textural finish with sweet, juicy black fruits. This is a bright, lively and youthfully juicy Merlot/Cabernet blend with good structure and fine grip. Match with roast lamb, beef and venison over the next 4-6 years. Hand-picked Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Gimblett Gravels fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine in oak barrels. 17.5+/20 Dec 2014 RRP $27.99
