Sacred Hill ‘HALO’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 18-May-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, paler on edge. This has a fresh open and moderately voluminous nose with accessible aromas of ripe citrus and tropical fruit alongside delicate flinty lees notes, nutty oak and lemon-curd MLF. The aromatics are lively and youthful. Medium-full bodied, up-front, lusciously rich flavours of citrus and tropical fruits are melded with layers of creamy barrel-ferment, lemon-curd MLF and nutty oak, forming a moderately deep core. The mouthfeel is smooth flowing with fresh acidity and some alcoholic power enhancing the linearity, carrying the wine to an elegant, soft-textured, lingering finish. This is a fresh, lively, citrus-fruited Chardonnay with creamy oak and MLF flavours and textures. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Mendoza clone Chardonnay from the ‘Riflemans’ vineyard fully fermented in French oak puncheons to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in barrel on lees. 17.5+/20 May 2015 RRP $27.99
