Sacred Hill ‘HALO’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 17-Jun-2013
Fruit from the ‘Riflemans Terraces’ vineyard fermented in French oak puncheons and barriques to 13.5% alc., the wine undergoing batonnage. Full, bright straw-yellow colour with light lemon-gold hues. Full, powerful and vibrantly ripe citrus and exotic, lifted stonefruit aromas feature on the nose, revealing an amalgam of MLF butterscotch, nuts and bacon-like toasty oak. Medium-full bodied, flavours of citrus and stonefruit are entwined with butterscotch, nuts and oak, forming a precise and focussed palate line. The mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh and zesty acidity adding succulence to the fruit and energy and drive. This has good underlying power which carries the flavours along with very refined textures to a very long, dry, finish with savoury citrus and butter notes. This is a vibrant and focussed, powerful Chardonnay with ripe citrus and butterscotch flavours. Match with roast poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 18.0/20 Jun 2013 RRP $27.99
