Ruru Reserve Pinot Noir 2020, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 21-Sep-2021
Moderately deep ruby-red with a black core, lighter on the rim. The nose has richness and is full, filled the glass with red and black cherries, cranberries and red berries, entwined with earth, dark herbs and an amalgam of spices. Medium-full bodied, aromas of cherries, red berries have a savoury tone, unfolding black pepper, barrel spices of cloves and cinnamon, along with thyme and earth. The fruit is succulent with good ripeness and acid balance; fine tannin provides a soft, silky grip. This is a fine Pinot Noir with layers of spice, a range of red to black fruit, herbs and earth details on a silky mouthfeel. Match with herb crushed lamb and venison loin over the next 5 years. Fermented to 13.8% alc, aged in oak barrels, 30% new oak. Unfiltered. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Sept 2021 RRP $40
