Ruru Reserve Pinot Noir 2017, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 14-Aug-2020
Bright, deep ruby-red with a lighter edge. The nose is elegant and bright, nuances of red cherries, raspberries, along with red florals, unfolding sweet spices of vanilla, cinnamon, pepper and earth. Medium-bodied, a bunch of vibrant fruit of red cherries, raspberries, melded with black pepper, sweet vanilla, cinnamon dusting and earth, lingers to a lifting bright finish. The fruit is exuberant with good intensity, fresh and vibrant shows vitality, a slight development of cherry plums character added interest. Velvety fine-grained tannin extraction is fine and powdery, leaves the palate with a dusty coating. This is an elegant Pinot Noir with flavours of red fruit and sweet spices on a powdery tannin structure line. Match with duck and pigeon over the next 3-5 years. 18.5/20 pts Aug 2020 RRP $38
