Ruru Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 14-Aug-2020
Bright, ruby-red with depth, even colour throughout. The nose is gently full with aromas of wild thyme, red and black cherries, melded with game, savoury and underlying spice power. Medium-full bodied, red and black cherries, plums, thyme and game, has a good core of flavour intensity; unfolding vanilla, spices and oak element. The fruit has weight and concentration, supported by alcohol power, added spice detail. The tannin is fine-grained, providing a good grip and silky mouthfeel lingers with lively acidity to a finish with spicy barrel detail. This is a flavoursome Pinot Noir with flavours of cherries, thyme, on a silky medium-body with a gamey rustic charm. Match with grilled lamb and game meat over the next 3-5 years. 13.6% alc. 18/20 pts Aug 2020 RRP $25
