Ruru Central Otago Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 05-Oct-2016
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, lighter edged. This has a tightly bound and youthfully fresh nose of white stonefruit and subtle notes of lifted florals, along with hints of honeysuckle, underlined by steely mineral elements. The aromatics are penetrating and intense. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is tight and firm with a lively mouthfeel, showing white stonefruits, florals and hints of exotic fruits and honeysuckle. The wine flows along a textured, phenolic line with brisk, steely acidity in support, providing energy and drive. The flavours carry to a firm, lingering finish of stonefruit and florals. This is a tight and youthfully firm, brisk, off-dry Pinot Gris with exotic stonefruit flavours and a textured, slightly grippy line. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine over the next 3 years. Hand-picked fruit, fermented in stainless-steel to 12.6% alc. and 9.0 g/L RS. 16.5+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $19.00
