Ruby Bay Nelson Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 09-Jun-2016
Full, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. The bouquet is full, broad and harmoniously packed and interwoven with aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits, citrus and tropical fruits, nutty oak and some oxidative elements. Full-bodied, the palate features rich and mouthfilling flavours of ripe yellow stonefruit and citrus fruit, melded harmoniously with nutty and oxidative complexities. The moutheel is fulsome and rounded, and supported by light textures, the acidity soft and integrated. The alcohol power emerges to add to the body and presence, and carries the wine to a soft, rich, mouthfilling finish. This is a full-bodied, softly rich Chardonnay with ripe stonefruit and citrus flavours alongside nutty oak and oxidative layers, driven by the alcohol. Match with roasted pork over the next 3 years. Hand-picked Mendoza clone fruit, fully barrel-fermented fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 29% new French oak, the wine undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. 16.5/20 Jun 2016 RRP $25.00
