Marlborough fruit mainly tank-fermented with a smaller portion in old French oak to 14.5% alc., the barrel component lees-stirred. Bright straw-yellow colour with golden hues, this has a full, broad and evenly presented nose of ripe yellow stonefruits, pears and apricots with hints of honey. Dryish to taste, this is full-flavoured showing ripe pears, tropical fruits and apricots, along with some alcohol heat and a phenolic textural grip under the sweetness of the fruit. This has weight and concentration, and there is balance from good acidity. Apricot and notes of caramel show on the finish. This is a full, broad and flavoursome Pinot Gris that will match Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare over the next 2-3 years. 16.5/20 Jan 2012 RRP $15.00
