Grenache from Spain
Review Date : 12-Apr-2016
Even, dark ruby-red colour with purple hues, lighter on the rime and youthful in appearance. This has an up-front. elegant nose with fresh, bright and vibrant aromas of raspberry fruit along with lifted whole berry fermentation floral and confectionary elements and subtle herbal detail. Medium-bodied, the palate features juicy, plush and uncomplicated flavours of ripe raspberry fruit interwoven with an amalgam of confectionary, floral and jam, unfolding savoury garrigue herbal notes. The mouthfeel is supple and accessible with modest tannin extraction lending a supple texture, and soft acidity adding to the rounded core. The wine carries to a lingering, dry, soft-textured finish. This is a juicy, plush and accessible Garnacha with raspberry, jam and savoury herb flavours and a light structure and grip. Serve with antipasto, pasta and tapas over the next 3 years. Made by Bodegas Navarro Lopez; hand-picked Garnacha fruit from 40 y.o. vines from the Valdepenas and Castilla la Mancha regions, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. 16.5+/20 Apr 2016 RRP $12.99
