Rojo ‘Gran Rojo’ VdT Castilla Garnacha 2012

Grenache from Spain
Review Date : 12-Jul-2013
Made by Bodegas Navarro Lopez; hand-picked Garnacha fruit from 40 y.o. vines from the Valdepenas and Castilla la Mancha regions, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. Very dark, deep, black-hued, purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The bouquet is fresh and up-front with primary aromas of dark raspberry and plum jam, lifted with confectionary notes and fermentation esters. Dry and medium-bodied, lifted fruit flavours of confectionary and raspberry fruits show with ripe jam notes. This is juicy and lush, with bright primary fruitiness the feature. Light, grainy tannins and extract provide some depth and substance to the palate, and carry the flavours to a soft, dry, fruity finish. This is an up-front and juicy Garnacha that will soften and come together over the next 6 months. Serve with antipasto, tapas and Mediterranean fare over the next 2-3 years. 16.5+/20 Jul 2013 RRP $16.99
