Rockburn ‘Tigermoth’ Central Otago Riesling 2015

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 09-Feb-2017
Brilliant pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. The nose is rounded with a tightly packed and concentrated core of limes, white stonefruits and florals finely entwined with a layering of mineral and toast secondary development notes. Medium-sweet to taste and light-bodied, the palate features flavours of limes and savoury citrus fruits entwined with honeysuckle that form an concentrated core, unfolding complex sherbet, toast and mineral nuances. The palate is enlivened by brisk, lacy acidity which balances the sweetness and the wine flows along a firm line of fruit extract with a subtle phenolic thread, leading to a soft, off-dry finish with lingering mineral and toast flavours. This is a rich, medium-sweet Riesling with flavours of lime and honeysuckle complexed by toast and mineral development on a firm, refreshing palate with an off-dry finish. Serve as an aperitif and with Chinese cuisine over the next 4-5+ years. Fruit from the ‘Parkburn’ vineyard, cool-fermented to 8.1% alc. and 67 g/L R, TA 10.1 g/L and pH 2.9. 280 dozen made. 18.5/20 Feb 2017 RRP $38.99
