Rockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 09-Feb-2017
Even, dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the edge. This has an elegant, intense and penetrating nose with concentrated aromas of dark-red and black cherry fruit entwined with subtle thyme herb notes along with an amalgam of liquorice and spices. The aromatics are stylish and lender in proportion. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly presented with good intensity and depth of spicy dark-red and black cherry fruit, melded with savoury herbs and nuances of spicy, nutty oak. The fruit forms a concentrated core and line, with balanced, fine-grained tannin extraction and light, refreshing acidity. The wine carries to an elegant, lingering, fine-textured finish. This is an elegant, finely concentrated Pinot Noir with flavours of black cherries, spice and thyme herbs on a fine-grained palate. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 5-6 years. Clones 10/5, 5, 6, Abel, 667 and 777, 86% from the ‘Parkburn’ vineyard and 14% from Gibbston, 90% indigenous yeast ferment with a portion of whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wines spending 7-14 days on skins post ferment and aged 10 months in 35% new French oak. 6,245 dozen and 300 magnums made. 18.5-/20 Feb 2017 RRP $49.99
