Rockburn Central Otago Fumé Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 28-Jan-2013
Fruit from the Parkburn vineyard, fully French oak barrel-fermented to 12.0% alc. and <1 g/L rs, the wine aged in oak 17 months with lees contact and MLF conversion. Full, even straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues. The bouquet is full and densely packed and concentrated with aromas of nectarines, herbs and smoky, spicy oak seamlessly interwoven with flinty elements. Dry to taste, softly concentrated spicy nectarine fruit and powerful oak are entwined, forming a deep core and palate line. The mouthfeel is smooth and near seamless, with creaminess allied to firmness. Bright acidity subtly emerges to provide cut and crispness, enlivening the flavours which are driven to a long and concentrated creamy finish featuring toasty oak and green stonefruits. This is a powerfully flavoured and strongly oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with a firm core, made approachable by creamy barrel-ferment textures. Serve with herb marinated poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4+ years. 70 cases made. 18.0-/20 Jan 2013 RRP $35.00
