Very deep, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is elegant with fragrant and interwoven aromas of dark red cherry fruit with spicy oak, liquorice and cedar and thyme herb elements. Medium-bodied, soft and shy flavours of red cherry fruit, spicy plums and cedary oak are harmoniously integrated, showing gentle sweetness and lusciousness. The flavours follow a fine granular line and are supported by fine tannin structure, the acidity soft and balanced. The palate core carries the palate with good presence to a sustained, dry finish with herbs, oak and spices. This is a harmoniously integrated Pinot Noir with plum and spicy oak flavour and good structure. Match with Middle Eastern lamb dishes over the next 5+ years. 70% clone 115, 20% Abel and 10% 777 from the ‘Trig Hill’ vineyard, Bendigo, destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.9% alc., the wine aged on skins 20 days after ferment and aged 17 months in French oak puncheons and barriques, a small portion new.
