Rock Ferry Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Dec-2013
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with some green hues, lighter on edge. The nose is powerful with intensely concentrated aromas of herbs, grass, gooseberries, green stonefruits and nettles in the cooler spectrum, underlined by nuances of spicy, creamy oak and barrel-ferment nuances. Dry to taste, bold grassy and gooseberry fruit flavours are the feature on palate. This is concentrated, flavoursome and robust with firm textures and brisk acidity providing a strong mouthfeel and linear grip. The oaking is significant but balanced and adds a creaminess to the flow of flavours. The acidity grows in prominence and leads to a brash, mouthwatering and racy finish. This is a very youthful, robust and racy, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with strong grassy flavours. It will need time to come together and should develop with bottle age. Serve with herb-marinated poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from ‘The Corners’ and ‘Orchard’ vineyards, indigenous yeast fermented, 70% in new and seasoned French oak to 13.3% alc., the wine aged 8 months on lees. Certified BioGro organic. 17.0+/20RRP $29.00
