Rock Ferry ‘3rd Rock’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-Oct-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is very fresh and finely proportioned with a firm and deep heart of aromatic white stonefruits and lifted yellow florals and some honied notes entwined with nutty and mineral nuances. The aromatics are refreshing with a steely edge. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the mouthfeel is gently full and rounded with a shy-flavoured core of stonefruits, yellow florals and honeysuckle. The palate has weight and presence, with soft textures and good lacy acidity. The wine has a degree of power and drive, and carries to a fulsome, fresh finish with stylishly restrained stonefruit, floral and honied notes. This is a full, weighty and rounded dryish Pinot Gris with restrained stonefruit, floral and honied flavours, and balanced acidity. Serve with Asian fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from ‘The Corners’ and ‘Orchard’ vineyards, hand-picked, WBP, and fermented partially with indigenous yeast in stainless-steel barrels and seasoned oak puncheons to 14.0% alc. and 6.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on lees. Certified BioGro organic. 17.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $27.00
